# EquiGenes > EquiGenes is an educational horse and pony coat-color genetics calculator. It estimates foal coat probabilities from parent phenotypes, genotypes, and optional grandparents. ## AI and developer tools - [API and MCP documentation](https://www.equi-genes.com/mcp): connection details, HTTP examples, model limitations. - [MCP endpoint](https://www.equi-genes.com/api/mcp): public remote MCP server. No key or account required. Read-only tools: calculate_coat_probabilities and list_horse_country_statistics. - [OpenAPI specification](https://www.equi-genes.com/api/openapi.json): machine-readable HTTP API description. - [Horse country statistics API](https://www.equi-genes.com/api/countries): horse counts and horses per 1,000 people for 143 countries and areas; 2024 data. - [Guide](https://www.equi-genes.com/guide): genes, inheritance assumptions, sources, and dataset caveats. ## Important limitations The coat calculator uses a simplified Mendelian model and does not account for breed- or bloodline-specific allele frequencies. Phenotype-only parent inputs use equally weighted compatible genotypes. Results are estimates, not genetic-test results or veterinary advice. Country horse counts and population figures follow the sources and years reported by the API; they do not describe coat-color frequencies.
